I often receive "catches" of errors in my books from sharp-eyed readers, and this time, I'm going to make one of those worth someone's while. On the DUST JACKET text of "A CHAIN OF THUNDER", there is one glaring historical error. In my defense, my editor and I made this correction weeks ago, but somehow, the wrong copy was used on the final published jacket. SO- to (maybe) soothe the disgruntled from blasting me for what might look like my ignorance (not true, not true), I am offering the FIRST DOZEN people who email me catching the error a FREE paperback copy of "The Killer Angels", autographed with a tribute to my father, and a tribute to "sharp eyed readers". "A CHAIN OF THUNDER" will be out May 21, and I'll be on the road until June 8 or so, but I promise- if you're one of those first 12, you'll be notified, and a book will be shipped when I return home. I assume many of you already own a copy of my father's book, but I wasn't sure what else I could offer as a token of my appreciation for those who actually pay attention to this sort of thing (and who might be as annoyed by this kind of mistake as I am).
Once the tour is complete, I'll be working full-time on the 3rd volume of the 4-book set, which will follow Sherman, Grant, George Thomas and their adversaries (notably, Braxton Bragg and Patrick Cleburne) through the campaign around Chattanooga, onward toward Atlanta. That book is scheduled to be released May, 2014.
